The places or more specifically the rivers that I guide on are full of fish, so the fishing is almost always good.  Starting in May I fish Fall River all the way through September and sometimes into October.  From late October all the way through early March I fish on the Trinity River.  Less than 5 minutes from my home in Redding is the Lower Sacramento where I can be found intermittently all year long.  Each river offers a distinct experience.  Each river provides anglers of all skill levels with excellent fishing and a truly rewarding experience to say the least.

Please read the details below about each of the rivers I specialize on:

TRINITY RIVER

This river offers excellent steelhead fishing from early Fall all the way into early Spring.  A typical day is spent fishing until sundown, drifting the river in my drift boat.  I stop in select runs to wade or fish from the boat.  The Trinity is one of the best steelhead streams in the west.  It's common for anglers to loose count of all the 25" fish they have had on the end of the rod.  But, tough days happen all the time.  These fish have to show up in order to catch them. In recent years, the steelhead have shown up in tremendous numbers and so have all of us anglers.  Be open minded when fishing here.  Expect to catch a few and bring your humble attitude.  I meet all my guests in Lewiston, CA. at 8:00 AM and we go to the river from there.  This is a tough river to guide on, but it's my favorite.  The experience I offer on the Trinity is 100% trustworthy. Anytime from November through February is a good time to come.

FALL RIVER

From the last Saturday in April through November 15th, this is a genuinely high quality fishing experience.  Fall River is full of 16"-18" wild rainbow trout.  A typical day on Fall River starts at 8:00 AM where we meet at The Fly Shop's Riverside House.  I use a special boat on Fall River that enables us to move up and down it's 17 mile length very quickly so we can intercept insect hatches and feeding trout.  This is a great river for beginners and experts.  Fall River provides all anglers with the "classic" fly fishing experience of dry flies and rising trout.  Come expecting to catch fish on dries, but be ready to fish with streamers, leeches and nymphs.  We should be able to catch fish using every conceivable fly fishing technique.  Fall River is often referred to as a technical trout fishery.  I think all trout fisheries are technical in there own right offering unique challenges for novice and expert anglers alike.  Fall River offers great trout fishing for all anglers, all levels.  From Fall River, we can take some really amazing side trips to Big Lake for some Bass, Eastman for a few rainbows and if you're really into testing you angling savvy we can try to fool trout at Horr Pond.

LOWER SACRAMENTO RIVER

This is an incredible river.  It fishes great all year long.  The best time to fish the "Lower Sac" is when you can!  This river offers great fishing for wild rainbow trout that average 16".  A typical day on the Lower Sac starts at The Fly Shop where we meet.  From The Fly Shop we will travel 5-20 minutes to a launch area.  We will drift the river in my drift boat, zigzagging down stream casting into riffles, runs and pools.  The best dry fly fishing on this river occurs sporadically through out the year, but March, July-August and sometimes October offer the best chances of experiencing the great top water action this river can produce.  The best go-to method on this river is indicator fishing.  This river offers what I call "no sweat" fishing.  You're gonna catch fish- no sweat!

Besides these destinations, I have a few others up my sleeve for those looking for something different.  Ask me about my "plan B" locations.
